One of the easiest ways to switch desktops on a Chromebook is with a feature called Virtual Desks. These let you create multiple desktop environments on a single display, reducing desktop clutter and making switching between projects a breeze. To access a Virtual Desk, simply press the Overview key on your keyboard. The icon will look like a display with two lines to the right. You can also access it by swiping up with three fingers on your touchpad. Once the window is open, you should see “Desk 1.”
Keyboard shortcuts
To switch desktops on your Chromebook, you can use keyboard shortcuts. These shortcuts work for both Mac and Windows computers. For Windows users, you can use the Windows key, or the Search key on your Mac. On Chromebooks, you can use the Launcher key, or Alt + Shift + s. You can also change the order of desktops by pressing a shortcut key.
Changing the direction of scrolling is another way to navigate between desktops. The default direction of scrolling on your Chromebook is to swipe down. This is similar to how scrolling works on touchscreen devices. Fortunately, changing scroll direction on a Chromebook is easy. First, click the time in the bottom right corner, then click the Settings icon. Next, select Touchpad and enable the reverse scrolling option.
In Chrome OS, you can also use Alt + E to open the browser menu. Similarly, Shift + Ctrl + Rotate will rotate the screen 90 degrees. Lastly, if your keyboard is backlit, you can press Alt + brightness to increase the brightness of the keyboard.
Chromebooks have the ability to use multiple virtual desktops, which let you work on different tasks simultaneously. These virtual desktops can be switched between with a few clicks. This is especially convenient if you work from home and need to switch back and forth between your desks.
Changing the sequence of your virtual desktops

You can also use keyboard shortcuts to switch between your virtual desktops. By default, you have to press the “Windows” key to change desktops. Alternatively, you can press the “+ New desk” icon. This will bring up the list of all your virtual desktops and let you select the one you want.
Once you’ve selected the virtual desktop you want, you can drag it to another desk. To move apps to a different desk, click on it, then drag it to the other Desk. This will allow you to get your work done quicker and keep your workspace organized.
You can also enable the copy and paste functionality of Horizon View. This feature allows you to easily copy files between different virtual desktops. Chromebooks that have ARM chips will have poorer performance than x86 chips. When using ARM-based Chromebooks, you should try using the High Res settings.
Undo
The ability to undo desktop switching is a useful productivity feature that Chromebook users can use to keep multiple workspaces open and organized. This feature is based on the Desk Templates feature and tries to recreate the previous configuration of the desktop whenever you want to switch between workspaces. This feature hasn’t made it to the Stable channel yet, but it should be ready within the next few weeks.

This function comes in handy when you need to capture the result of a web quiz or a homework module issue. It also allows you to capture hilarious group chats.
To undo the change made by the system, you must first make sure you have a USB flash drive or SD card to restore the Chromebook. Next, you need to power on the Chromebook again. Ensure you have turned on the recovery utility and the extension on the Chromebook. When the recovery utility opens, you must select the recovery media type.
